Cleaning Methods for Stainless Steel Filter Mesh

Dust and easily removable dirt on stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned with soap, mild detergent or warm water. For labels and plastic films attached to stainless steel surfaces, wash with warm water and mild detergent first; wipe residual adhesive with alcohol or organic solvents (ether, benzene).

For stains of grease, oil and lubricants on stainless steel surfaces, wipe clean with a soft cloth, then wash with neutral detergent, ammonia solution or dedicated stainless steel cleaner.

Stainless steel filter mesh is mainly made of 304, 304L, 316, 316L and other grades. It is widely used for screening and filtration under acidic and alkaline environments: it serves as mud screen in petroleum industry, filter screen in chemical and chemical fiber industry, and pickling screen in electroplating industry.

If bleach or various acids adhere to the stainless steel filter mesh surface, rinse thoroughly with clean water immediately, soak it in ammonia solution or neutral soda ash solution afterwards, then wash with neutral detergent or warm water.

Rainbow streaks on stainless steel filter mesh are caused by excessive detergent or oil residue. Rinse with warm water and neutral cleaner to remove them. Rust formed by dirt contamination on stainless steel surfaces can be eliminated with 10% nitric acid, polishing abrasives or special stainless steel cleaners.

Thanks to its excellent heat resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, wear resistance, durability, corrosion resistance and long service life, stainless steel filter mesh is widely adopted in environmental filtration fields. For instance, stainless steel screens installed in sewage treatment plants can intercept stones, sediment, weeds, domestic residues and other impurities in water. The mesh is easy to clean and reusable after water washing, making it an ideal material for environmental filtration.
